Schaumburg, IL (January 23, 2018) – The Village of Schaumburg is pleased to announce it has been ranked the Best Place to Live in Illinois by MONEY Magazine.
This new ranking complements the village’s recent designation in October 2017 where it was ranked 9 out of 100 cities across the U.S. in offering a healthy economy, affordable homes, and a high quality of life to make MONEY’s Best Places to Live in the U.S. list.
Representatives used data from that ranking and selected the top places in all 50 states that paired strong economic and educational performance with affordability, convenience, safety, and a pleasant way of life.
“It is no surprise to me that Schaumburg came out on top as the Best Place to Live in Illinois,” said Village President Al Larson. “The village offers a high quality of life to those who come here to live, work, visit, and raise a family. Our amenities are one-of-a-kind, and Schaumburg is proud to provide such a wealth of resources that are both convenient and appealing to the public.”
The Best Places to Live in Every State recognizes Schaumburg’s strong economic and manufacturing foothold in the region as well many of the village’s amenities such as the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, Trickster Art Gallery, Legoland Discovery Center, Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg Township District Library, and Schaumburg Park District to name a few. To identify MONEY’s Best Places to Live in Every State, MONEY used the same data set that yielded its overall Best Places to Live ranking: They looked only at places with populations between 10,000 and 100,000, then eliminated any place that had more than double the national crime risk, less than 85 percent of its state’s median household income, or a lack of ethnic diversity.
Further data was analyzed including economic health, cost of living, public education, crime, ease of living, diversity, and other amenities, as well as housing market costs and growth. The greatest weight was placed on economic health, cost of living factors, and public school performance, which in Schaumburg is provided by School District 54 and Township High School District 211, to determine top rankings.
“It is a community effort of many strong partnerships that contribute to the success of Schaumburg,” Larson added. “It is truly an honor to receive such high praise and to be recognized as the best community in Illinois.”
