Worried about dodging road construction when you drive in to visit the Mecum Auction next week? Don’t fret – most of the road construction has been completed!
Mecum Auto Auction, which takes over the entire Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Thursday through Saturday (Oct. 6-8), is a high-caliber car auction offering non-stop excitement. Even if you’re not a classic car-lover, you absolutely will enjoy this amazing event. Bring your friends, bring your family and immerse yourself in all things shiny and detailed. Plus, you don’t want to miss seeing former Big Brother Contestant – “Chicken” George!
If you’re not familiar with the Chicago Northwest area, be warned that there is road construction EVERYWHERE! Don’t be scared away – it’s not that bad! Most of the current construction is on I-90. Updates can be found on the Illinois Tollway website.
We still suggest entering the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center (map) property from Thoreau Drive, which runs in front of the complex. Thoreau Drive can be accessed from Meacham or Algonquin Roads. Note: there is extremely limited parking at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center due to Mecum utilizing many of the spaces. Get there early!
Better yet, park at Woodfield Mall and take the shuttle over to the Renaissance. This trip will save you a lot of headaches and you’ll have door service!
Also, the Woodfield Trolley service will be available on Friday and Saturday! Check the schedule and route.
Tickets are available at the door – $30 per person each day. Doors open at 8am and close around 8pm (depends on how quickly the auction moves). If you are interested in bidding, you must register!
1,000 cars are available in the lot for Mecum Chicago. Find out the details and see pics of all the cars in the lot over at mecum.com!
See you there!
P.S. There are more than cars up for auction! If you are a sign collector, check out the road art being auctioned off. Everything from autographed guitars to neon Sinclair signs!
Phew – now we’re hungry! Here’s a list of all the restaurants in Schaumburg. We know you won’t head home hungry.
