Meet Chicago Northwest Welcomes Mid–America Oireachtas, Irish Dance Competition

Thousands of Competitors and Families expected to utilize area hotels, restaurants and attractions

Schaumburg, IL (November 7, 2016) – Meet Chicago Northwest is pleased to welcome the Mid –America Oireachtas, Irish Dance Competition, a new event to the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center from November 25-27, 2017.

This competition is a qualifying event for the world championships to be held in Dublin, Ireland in April 2017.  Dancers range in age from 5 to adult, solo dancing and team dancing.  Competitors are expected to come from as far away as North Dakota to Kentucky.  Musicians and adjudicators come from USA, Canada, Ireland, England and Scotland to participate in the event.

For its first year in the Chicago Northwest region, the event organizers, The Irish Dancers Teachers Association of Mid-America, are expecting approximately 3,000 competitors, 20 plus vendor exhibits and 15,000 attendees.  At least 12 area hotels are housing guests over this holiday weekend.   The event will return November, 2017 for its second year in Chicago Northwest.

Dave Parulo, President of Meet Chicago Northwest, says, “This is very exciting for Schaumburg and our communities. Not only does this event help fill our hotels, but restaurants, retail and attractions will also benefit from these visitors.”

 ABOUT The Irish Dancers Teachers Association of Mid-America (IDTAMA):

IDTAMA is a member-based organization comprised of teachers and adjudicators registered in 14 US States: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota and Wisconsin. All members are certified by and registered with An Coimisiun Le Rinci Gaelacha, and are registered with the North American Irish Dance Teacher’s Association.
