AMERICAN INDIAN VETERANS NATIONAL GATHERING Documentary is Emmy Nominated!

 

Historical education event at Cantigny Park celebrated American Indian Veterans and their service to our nation”

Schaumburg, Ill. (November 10, 2017) — All veterans, their families and the general public are come together for a national gathering of American Indian Veterans at Cantigny Park and the First Division Museum each July for an annual event.

On August 29th 30th, 2015, American Indian veterans from coast to coast, public officials, and other interested parties from across the United States convened in Cantigny Park, Wheaton, Illinois to participate in the first ever National Gathering of American Indian Veterans . This national gathering enabled our veterans to share their stories of service and struggle in order to reach a place of healing and to develop a national network of support. In this film, we honor their “Untold Story”.

This year the documentary “The Untold Stories of American Indian Veterans” produced in 2016 by Joseph Podlasek, CEO of the Trickster Art Gallery and our veteran event committee. This was designed for our men and women voices to be shared and was nominated by the National Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences Midwest in the category of Culture. Award evening is on December 2nd 2017 at the Swissotel, in Chicago, where the event will be full of Native American Indian Veterans to cheer on their story!

“This unique event tells the untold story LIVE,” said Joe Podlasek, chief executive officer of Trickster Art Gallery and national event organizer. “All tribes of all wars share a history lesson. It’s a remarkable opportunity to listen to the veterans’ voices and say ‘thank you’ Native style.”

Event was 1st supported by and filmed at the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, Cantigny Park. Other sponsors and supporters include Chicago Blackhawks, Pala Tribe of CA, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, PepsiCo –RISE and Valor Employee groups, Tyson Foods, First Nation Women Warriors, California Indian Manpower Consortium, Mohegan Tribe of CT, NBCUniversal/Comcast, AT&T ICAE Native employees, Hilton Lisle/Naperville is the host hotel each year.
